Obituary for Eleanor F. "Ellie" Hill (Foster)

Eleanor F. "Ellie" Hill (Foster)
Monmouth—Eleanor (Ellie) F. Hill, 86, went to be with her husband, Merton Hill in Heaven on October 3, 2010. She was at home surrounded by family at the time of her passing. Ellie was the oldest child of the late Roy and Madolyn Foster. She was born on November 30, 1923. She proudly graduated from Monmouth Academy in 1942. Always a very active woman, Ellie always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Her family was very important to her. She loved family so much that after her husband passed away she moved in with Clair Crocker to help take care of his family too. Marvin Crocker and family, Ronald Crocker and family, Roberta Crocker and family, Barry Crocker and family, Brenda Cushman and family, Barbara Crocker and family all became Ellie’s family too. Ellie worked with the public for many years while raising her family. A few of the places she worked were Winthrop Drug, Monmouth Market, Highmoor Farm, Woolworth Estate, as a telephone operator, cleaning houses, and a care taker for many. She volunteered for Girl Scouts of America, the church, the senior group (as treasurer), Grange, and many more organizations. The ocean was a special place for Ellie. She would often go to visit one of her best friends Priscilla in Newagen. Her zest for life, great storytelling ability, sense of humor and calmness about her made it possible for everyone to love her. She played cards, went to Beano, snowshoeing, anything that she could do while spending time with her many friends and much loved family. She leaves behind her two daughters Lindy and her husband Doug, and Kathy. Lindy lives in Boothbay and Kathy lives in Monmouth. Her sisters and brothers; Ruth Bragg, Marge Foster and her companion Richard, Phyllis Hill and her husband Lester, Robert Foster and his friend Gloria, Roy Jr. and his wife Irene. Her Grandchildren are Gwen and her companion Loren, Amanda and her husband David, Mert and his wife Sue and Chelsea and her friend Rob. Her great grandchildren Ashley, Dillan, Brooke, David Jr, Maverick, Payton, Tyler and Josh will miss her dearly. She was months away from being a great great grandmother.
